Guimarães Music Academy

Guimarães Music Academy is a summertime music academy directed towards young, prospering musicians, located in the beautiful city of Guimarães in Portugal, belonging to UNESCO. The Academy is also a part of Guimarães Classico Festival. The course consists of lessons ranging from individual, chamber music and chamber orchestras, conducted under the supervision of professors and renowned musicians, such as Vasko Vassilev, Tomasz Tomaszewski, Emanuel Salvador, Emilia Goch Salvador and Filipe Quaresma. In this year’s edition of the course, there were 16 contestants, who polished their skills with the support of the masters. Guimarães Classico Festival is also a formula of numerous performances which took place in the city of Guimarães, among them: ”Serioso” – Al Pari Quartet, ”Souvenir de Florence” – Guimarães String Quartet with Guests, ”Guimarães Academia”- Students audition, ”Tchaikovsky-Tchaikovsky” – Guimarães String Quartet with Guests, Guimarães Classico Festival Orchestra, ”Viva Vivaldi” – Vasko Vassilev, Guimarães Classico Festival Orchestra.

Sunrise in Asia

In October this year at the special invitation of the National Center of Performing Arts (India) and Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music (Vietnam), as well as the Polish Embassy in Hanoi, the musicians of BNO, as part of the Baltic Neopolis Virtuosi, will take a musical journey around India and Vietnam, which will present a business card Polish classical music. The purpose of the tour is to increase interest in Polish culture and celebration in the countries with which Poland in 2019 will celebrate the centenary of establishing diplomatic relations. The musical journey will begin with an extremely prestigious concert that will take place on October 5 in Szczecin, where, in addition to a number of compositions by Polish artists, the song “Sunrise in Asia” specially composed by the Vietnamese composer Phuc Linh will be presented.

In addition, during the concert you will hear compositions of great and esteemed compatriots, works of Mikołaj Górecki, Stanisław Moniuszko and even Fryderyk Chopin. It will be a tasteful evening, full of sounds of the history of two continents.

We invite you to the press conference on the prestigious concert tour with the participation of the Baltic Neopolis Virtuosi band. New videoclip

The work on the new Baltic Neopolis Orchestra film production with the participation of Artistic Director Vasko Vassilev has just come to an end. The material recorded mainly at the final concert of the Baltic Neopolis. The Castle Opera Festival is the beginning of a new visual artistic creation with which the BNO will tour in 2020. The concert “Flamenco Fiesta” is an unusual combination of passion and exuberant passion of the already known Szczecin audience Vasco Vasilleva with the male part of the Spanish group Chambao, which is an opportunity to visit the corners of distant Andalusia. Flamenco is a thrilling cultural phenomenon that perfectly combines music with elements of folklore, through the presence of dance and singing, which were documented during the recorded material, will become one of the best forms of compensation for each journey, even the one hundreds of kilometers long. The main goal of the Project was to record 14 songs that are intended to remind you of the constant desire to promote artists associated with the Orchestra, remaining open to new challenges and ready to visit the farthest corners of the world, and to present the City of Szczecin as a space for the development of modern and creative chamber ensembles.

Asia… it’s our 6th trip there!

Organizing a concert tour in Asia is certainly a big challenge. However, over the years the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra has already gained experience and as soon as the chance to perform in the Far East appeared, without hesitation, it decided to set off in October to India and Vietnam. They brought snail masks, exotic fruits, but above all the power of impressions and memories that came from meetings with a completely unknown audience. Immediately after the concert in Szczecin, on October 6, the musicians of the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra began their journey. The composition of Baltic Neopolis Virtuosi included: Emanuel Salvador, Sławomir Wilga, Emilia Goch Salvador, Robert Dacko and Michał Francuz, accompanied by Paulina Wittig from the orchestra’s office and little Leonardo Goch Salvador, who by the way celebrated his first birthday in Mumbai. Three concerts are planned, in Mumbai, India, as well as Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi in Vietnam. Time is short, and the concert program is extensive and 24,000. kilometers to go! Invitations of prestigious institutions and excellent musicians, as well as the expectations of the audience, which has not yet had the opportunity to come into contact with Polish music, gave good mobilization. First, the National Center of Performing Arts, the most important cultural center in India. Contact with Hindu culture and the local climate has made a great impression on us, despite the fact that for some it was not the first time in this country – says Emilia Goch Salvador. Two concerts are planned in Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, however, the initiator of the arrival of musicians from Poland was bassoonist Nguyen Bao Anh, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, as well as the Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Bassoon Academy. The program made in India was enriched with the work of Johann Brandel “Quintet in F major, Op. 13 “, which the musicians performed with the host of the place. The second concert was organized by the Polish Embassy in Hanoi; At the invitation of the Baltic Neopolis Ambassador, Virtuosi played in the Vietnam National Academy of Music Hall. – Nothing surprised us in Vietnam as much as the difference between the cities we were able to visit. – says Emilia Goch Salvador. – Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi are absolutely incomparable. We are glad that we could spend more time in Ho Chi Minh, a modern, multi-colored city, surprising at every turn. Maybe we liked it because we flew to him from India through Hong Kong (!) I am already aware of the imminent departure, and of course rehearsals for the next project that were already waiting for us in Szczecin. This year’s Baltic Neopolis Orchestra tour in Asia certainly was not and will not be the last. It was achieved thanks to the huge commitment of partners in India and Vietnam, as well as the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and patrons of the orchestra: the City of Szczecin and the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority. In addition to prestige, as well as new artistic experience, musicians from Szczecin managed to establish lasting cooperation with artists from the Far East. Talks about the future project are already very advanced, so you only have to wait for official news about the next BNO tour in Asia, promoting Polish music and Szczecin in very distant countries.
